Monogram ZGG48N42 Spit Grill Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Both rotisserie motors and spit seating
- Spark and ports on the four grill burners
- Natural gas connector and shutoff valve
- Smoker heat and grease in the drip tray
The ZGG48N42 is a Monogram 48-inch outdoor cooking center for natural gas. Its listing shows four grill burners, two rotisseries, and a smoker with rack, in a body 47 7/8 inches wide, 22 high and 25 3/8 deep. Listings show it from 1997 through 2021.
A natural gas center with two spits has more moving parts than most grills. We test each motor on its own, check its mount and the spit ends, and run the four burners one at a time to see flame color and spark. The ZGG48N42 is a different number from the ZGG48L42, so we do not borrow fuel assumptions from it; this one is listed for natural gas and we confirm that on the data label.
If heat is uneven across the grates, we look at the outer burners and the airflow around the island cutout. We order parts only against the label. A price in writing comes first; the repair is then covered for 30 days.

What does the ZGG48N42 offer?
Four grill burners, two rotisseries and a smoker with rack, in a 48-inch natural gas center. The listing covers 1997 through 2021, and we confirm the details from the label on the unit.
Both spits turn slowly. What does that suggest?
Two slow spits at once suggest a shared cause, like a weak power feed, rather than two bad motors. We check the supply to the motors before we price a part.
How do you confirm the fuel?
Its listing says natural gas, and we confirm it from the data label and the orifice size before adjusting a burner. A wrong orifice would give a tall, sooty flame, so we do not skip this step.
