Before You Worry
- Confirm that the drawer is fully closed. Some models will not heat otherwise.
- Check the temperature or mode setting on the control.
- Wait long enough for the drawer to come up to heat; it is not an oven.
- Look for a tripped breaker or a power strip that was switched off.
Things That Look Like Failure
- A cold pan on the rack takes longer to warm than the drawer itself.
- A moisture setting may feel cooler to the hand.
- A thick stack of plates slows heating.
Signs That Need a Technician
If the control lights up but the drawer never gets warm after a long time, the heating part or a sensor may have failed. If the drawer does not respond at all, power or the control board could be involved. If the glide is rough or the front sags, the drawer needs to be checked mechanically. A single sign cannot tell these apart.
A Note About Food Safety
Do not rely on a drawer you are not sure about to hold food for a long time. Use a food thermometer for anything that needs to stay hot, and discard food that has sat in a lukewarm drawer for hours.
