When a Monogram dishwasher ends its cycle with water sitting in the tub, hold off on another run until the drain path has been checked. Repeated cycles can overfill the tub. The usual causes are blockages, a kinked hose, or a sink-side connection, and some are easy to clear.
Checks You Can Do
- Turn the dishwasher off at the breaker.
- Remove the lower rack and take out the filter as described in your manual.
- Clear food, labels, glass and seeds from the filter and sump.
- Bail out what is left with a cup, then sponge the tub dry.
- Check the sink: if the disposal is next to the dishwasher, run it clear and make sure a knockout plug was removed on a new installation.
Outside the Machine
Next, trace the drain hose where it runs behind or beneath the machine. A bend, a crush from a cabinet remodel or a clog at the air gap blocks flow. In a built-in kitchen, access can be tight, so do not pull the unit out unless you know how it is secured.
When It Points to the Machine
- You hear a humming sound but no draining, which can suggest a stuck or failed drain pump.
- The cycle stops with a display code.
- Water drains slowly even with a clear filter and hose.
What Cannot Be Concluded
A clear filter does not prove the pump is good, and a working pump does not clear a blocked sink line. A slow kitchen drain elsewhere often shows the line, not the machine, is the problem, and a plumber is the right call. If you see water under the unit, shut off the supply and see our dishwasher repair page before running another cycle.
We can sort the machine from the plumbing on one visit. We hold a three-hour slot for you, write the estimate before any wrench turns, and warrant the finished repair for 30 days. See dishwasher repair and the areas we serve.
