What LIGHT Light Flashing means
On Monogram ZBD9900 top-control dishwashers, including the ZBD9900RII, the LIGHT indicator flashing is a water intake message. The control counts pulses from the flow meter, and it saw fewer than 80 within 60 seconds, or did not reach the expected count within 255 seconds. The program stops. The owner sees the LIGHT indicator flashing and a dishwasher with little or no water in the tub. That reading applies to the ZBD9900 series and nothing else.
Common causes of LIGHT Light Flashing
- Water supply valve and line to the dishwasher
- Inlet valve opening and its coil
- Flow meter turning freely
- Wiring between valve, meter and control
1. Make sure the water supply valve under the sink is fully open. 2. Run the kitchen faucet to confirm that water pressure is normal. 3. Check the supply line for kinks where it is visible under the sink. 4. Close the door firmly and restart the cycle. 5. Call us if the light returns after the supply is confirmed open.
- A closed valve is the easy check, but the inlet valve itself can restrict flow
- We test the flow meter and the inlet valve coil
- We check the wiring before any part is replaced

Why does it say water when the tub is empty?
The control counts water going in. If the count is too low, it stops and flashes the light because it cannot confirm the tub is filling at the right rate.
Could low water pressure cause this?
Yes, a half-closed valve or a clogged inlet screen can slow the fill enough to fall under the count. A normal faucet flow helps us rule that out quickly.
Is it safe to leave the dishwasher plugged in?
Yes, with an empty tub there is no water risk. If you see water on the floor, close the supply valve and call us. Leave the door closed until we arrive so nothing is disturbed.
