What E (flashing alone) means
On Monogram ZHU30 and ZHU36 induction cooktops, such as the ZHU30RSRSS, ZHU36RSRSS, ZHU30RBMBB and ZHU36RBMBB, an E flashing by itself means a hardware error has occurred. The older owner's manual says only to call for service, without naming a single part. The owner sees the flashing E and the cooktop may stop heating. This differs from the E that alternates with c or o, which carry their own meanings.
Common causes of E (flashing alone)
- Induction control board
- Power module
- Connection between boards
- Sensor wiring
1. Turn all elements off and remove the cookware. 2. Let the cooktop cool. 3. Wipe the glass dry and clear the control area. 4. Try one element at low heat. 5. Call us and tell us the display shows E alone.
- A lone E does not name a part, so we have to diagnose
- We check the wiring, the sensors and the control boards
- We confirm every element works after the repair

How is this different from E and c?
With a c or an o alternating, the display tells you the keypad or heat is involved. A lone flashing E gives only the hardware message.
Can I reset it?
Turning the elements off and letting the cooktop rest is fine. We do not recommend any button combinations, because the manual does not give any.
What should I tell you when I call?
Give us the model, say that the E flashes alone and tell us what you were cooking. That helps us bring the right parts. A photo of the display is useful too.
Still seeing E (flashing alone)?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
