What Er31 means
Er31 appears only in the service mode of Monogram ZHU36 induction cooktops, the 36-inch size that has two filter boards. It means one filter board has not been set up to work with the other. Owners do not see the code itself, only an E or an E with a letter, and some zones may stay dark. This usually shows up after a board is replaced or reset, and a technician has to pair the two boards with a key sequence.
Common causes of Er31
- Filter board pairing after a board replacement
- Second filter board missing its setup
- Connection between the two filter boards
1. Turn every element off. 2. Turn off the cooktop's breaker, wait a minute, and turn it on again. 3. Note which zones stay dark and whether a board was replaced recently. 4. Do not press key combinations from the internet. 5. Leave the pairing to us.
- Pairing is done by a technician through a key sequence, not by the owner
- We confirm both boards are the correct matching type before pairing
- If pairing does not hold, we test the boards and their cable
Other Cooktop codes
Does Er31 affect the 30-inch ZHU30?
No. The 30-inch cooktop has one filter board, so there is nothing to pair. Er31 is a ZHU36 matter and shows only to the technician.
Why would the boards need pairing?
Two filter boards must recognize each other. After a replacement or a lost setting, one can be left unconfigured. We run the pairing and watch for confirmation from the cooktop.
Can I pair them myself?
We do not recommend it. The procedure uses hidden key presses and a wrong step can leave the control confused. Call us and we will do it correctly.
