What NORMAL Light Flashing means
Monogram ZBD9900 top-control dishwashers, such as the ZBD9900RII, use the NORMAL light flashing to report a thermistor problem in the technician's service test. The thermistor reading either stopped or went above 175 degrees Fahrenheit, and the program continues anyway. This is not something the owner sees on the panel. What the owner may notice is a wash that seems cooler or hotter than usual. The reading is confirmed for the ZBD9900 series, not for other Monogram models.
Common causes of NORMAL Light Flashing
- Thermistor and its connector
- Wiring between the thermistor and the control
- Main control input for the temperature circuit
1. Let the cycle finish before opening the door, since the water can be very hot. 2. Check that dishes are not blocking the lower spray arm. 3. Rinse the filter under the tap and put it back. 4. Run one more normal cycle and note the result. 5. Call us if the dishes keep coming out poorly cleaned.
- The owner has no way to see the thermistor reading
- We check the thermistor value against known resistance at the water temperature
- A wiring or connector problem can mimic a bad thermistor

Does the dishwasher still work with this reading?
Yes, the program continues. The control just does not have a trustworthy temperature, so heating and sanitizing results on your ZBD9900 may not match what the cycle promises.
Where does the flashing show?
In the service test only, where our technician reads it. You will not see this one on the display during a normal wash. Nothing about it is visible to you while the dishwasher runs.
Could the dishes be unsafe?
If the water is not reaching proper temperature, grease and food residue may stay. Rewash a load that looks dirty and let us check the sensor circuit.
Still seeing NORMAL Light Flashing?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
