What Er47 means
On Monogram ZHU30 and ZHU36 induction cooktops, Er47 is a communication code: the touch board and the filter board are not talking properly through the ribbon cable between them. A technician reads it in the cooktop's service mode. The owner may notice keys that do not respond, zones that will not start, or a plain E on the display. The first step for the technician is a visual check of that cable.
Common causes of Er47
- Ribbon cable between touch board and filter board
- Connector seating at either end
- Filter board communication circuit
1. Turn every element off. 2. Wipe the keypanel clean and dry with a soft cloth. 3. Cut power to the cooktop at the breaker for sixty seconds, then restore it. 4. Try the keys once with nothing on the glass. 5. Do not lift or press on the glass.
- The ribbon cable sits under the glass, so we cannot see it from above
- A loose connector and a weak board can look alike until we test
- We inspect the cable first and quote any board in writing
Other Cooktop codes
Why won't my keys respond?
The touch board sends your key presses to the filter board through a ribbon cable. If that link is poor, the cooktop ignores you. We inspect the cable and its connectors first.
Could a spill cause Er47?
Moisture on the glass does not usually break this link, but it can upset the keys. Dry the keypanel and try again. If the E persists, the link needs checking.
Will you replace the whole cooktop?
Not as a first step. We check the cable, then the board, and give you a written price for what is actually needed, with the work covered by our 30-day warranty.
Still seeing Er47?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
