What F6 means

This is the F6 code as it appears on Monogram ZGP professional gas ranges, whose electronic oven control uses a Timer display and a Mini-Knob. Models include the ZGP486ND, ZGP484NG, ZGP364ND and ZGP366N. F6 reports a problem with the range lockout switch, which belongs to the oven door lock system. The wiring at the lockout motor and the control connector marked CN6 is where the checking starts. The control stores the code, and the oven may not start a cycle that needs the door locked.

Common causes of F6

  • Loose or damaged wiring at the lockout motor
  • Connector CN6 on the control not seating well
  • Lockout switch not reporting its position
  • Control reading the lockout circuit incorrectly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the oven controls off and let the range cool. 2. Close the oven door fully and check that nothing is caught in it. 3. Try a normal bake and see whether F6 comes back. 4. If F6 returns, stop using that oven and call us with the code.

! Why to stop there
  • Reaching the lockout motor wiring and the CN6 connector means opening up the range, so we do it with power disconnected
  • We test the switch before replacing any part
  • Whether the cause is wiring, the switch or the control stays open until we check the circuit
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F6F6 questions
Is F6 on a ZGP the same as on other ranges?

No. On a Monogram ZGP it points to the lockout switch circuit. The same characters can mean something else on other platforms, so we read it against the ZGP.

Will the oven still heat?

It may refuse cycles that depend on a locked door. If it does heat, keep the door closed during use and call us rather than forcing the issue or trying to bypass the lock.

Why do you check wiring first?

The documented starting point is the lockout motor connections and the CN6 control connector. Loose contacts are far cheaper to fix than a new part, and they are a common reason for this kind of reading.
