What CX means
CX is the communication error on Monogram ZGP professional gas ranges, among them the ZGP486ND and ZGP364ND. The oven control talks to several boards, and CX means a link to one of them is lost. The X is replaced by a number from 1 to 6 that names the board. The control keeps a record of the last communication errors and the last F codes. Guidance for the range is to check the harness first, then replace whatever board the number points to.
Common causes of CX
- Harness between the control and the named board
- Connector not seated at either end
- The board named by the number after C
- Control reading the link incorrectly
1. Note the number that appears in place of the X. 2. Switch the oven controls off and leave the range idle. 3. Start a simple bake and see if the code returns. 4. If it does, call us with the full code, such as C1 or C4.
- The number tells us the board but not whether the board or its harness has failed
- We always check the harness and connectors first, as the guidance says
- Stored codes are read by a technician in a service menu, not by owners
Other Professional Range codes
What does the number after C mean?
It names the board the control cannot reach. C1 is the main relay board and C4 is the auxiliary relay board, for example. Each has its own page.
Is the harness really the first suspect?
Yes. A pin that is not seated can look exactly like a dead board. We check the wiring and connectors before recommending a new part, which keeps the repair price lower.
Does the range remember older codes?
The control stores recent communication codes and F codes. We can read them during a visit to see whether the trouble is a repeat or a one-time event, and plan the repair from that.
Still seeing CX?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
