What F9 means
Monogram ZGP professional gas ranges, such as the ZGP366N, show F9 when the cooling fan stalls or something else opens the sail switch. A reed switch at the top rear, behind the cooling fan, monitors the fan's airstream, and if the fan malfunctions the switch disables the oven. The guidance for this range is to suspect a stalled fan or restricted airflow in the control area. When this code shows, the oven stops heating.
Common causes of F9
- Cooling fan not turning or turning too slowly
- Reed switch opening on weak airstream
- Blocked air path to the control area
- Fan wiring or connector problem
1. Switch the oven off and let everything cool. 2. Look at the vents around the range for blockage. 3. Restart with a short bake and check that a fan can be heard. 4. If the fan is quiet or F9 returns, call us.
- Heat is stopped on purpose when airflow cannot be confirmed, so the oven stays off until the cause is solved
- We check the fan, its wiring and the reed switch in turn
- The panels come off only with the range disconnected

What is a sail switch?
Here it is a reed switch behind the cooling fan that notices the fan's airstream. If the airstream is weak or absent, the switch opens and the oven cannot run.
Can I bypass the fan check?
No. The check keeps the control area from overheating, so it is there for your protection. We never defeat it and we do not recommend that anyone else does either.
What do you look at first?
We start with the cooling fan itself and anything blocking its air path, then test the reed switch and the wiring. Parts are quoted in writing before we replace one, and the work is warranted for 30 days.
Still seeing F9?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
