What C3 means
On Monogram 30-inch single and double convection wall ovens in the ZET1 and ZET2 series, such as the ZET1PL1SS and ZET2SL1SS, C3 is a stored communication code for the upper mode encoder, the board that reads which cooking mode you picked on the upper oven. When the control cannot hear it, the mode selection may not register. You may find the oven ignoring the mode setting, choosing a different mode than you turned to, or failing to start. The display does not show C3.
Common causes of C3
- Upper mode encoder board
- Harness to the encoder
- Mode setting not read by the control
- Control board communication
1. Leave the oven off until it has cooled. 2. Turn the mode setting to a basic bake. 3. Check that the oven responds with the right heat. 4. If the mode does not match, call us and tell us which mode you chose and how the oven acted.
- We confirm which mode the oven actually runs against the one you selected.
- The harness is checked before we replace the encoder board.
- Our price is written before any work, and the repair is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Wall Oven codes
What is a mode encoder?
It is the board that reads which cooking mode you selected. C3 means the control lost contact with the upper one.
Why would the oven ignore my mode?
If the control cannot hear the encoder, the setting may not register.
Does C3 appear on the screen?
No. It is stored, and we read it during service.
Still seeing C3?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
