What C4 means
This applies to double ovens in Monogram 30-inch single and double convection wall ovens in the ZET1 and ZET2 series, such as the ZET1PL1SS and ZET2SL1SS. C4 records that the control lost communication with the lower relay board, which switches the heating elements for the lower oven. It is stored and not displayed. You may notice the lower oven not heating, only partly heating, or failing to start while the upper oven works fine.
Common causes of C4
- Loose harness to the lower relay board
- Lower relay board no longer answering
- Damaged wiring between boards
- Control board communication output
1. Switch everything off at the controls and let both ovens cool. 2. Try the upper oven and the lower oven separately. 3. Note which one fails to heat. 4. Call us if the lower oven stays cold, and tell us whether the upper oven heats normally.
- Comparing upper and lower behavior tells us which relay board to test.
- We check the harness plugs before any board is replaced.
- Expect a written price up front and a 30-day workmanship warranty on the work.
Other Wall Oven codes
Does C4 apply to my single oven?
No. C4 through C6 apply to double ovens, since they involve the lower oven.
What does it mean?
The control lost contact with the lower relay board.
Will the upper oven still work?
Often yes, but it depends on the wiring. We test both ovens.
Still seeing C4?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
