What F3 means
On Monogram 30-inch single and double convection wall ovens in the ZET1 and ZET2 series, such as the ZET1PL1SS and ZET2SL1SS, F3 means the control sees an open oven sensor, with resistance above 2,900 ohms. A healthy sensor reads about 1,080 ohms at room temperature and changes by roughly 2 ohms per degree. F3 is a stored code and is not shown to the owner on the display, so you are more likely to notice the oven failing to heat, heating oddly, or stopping partway through a bake.
Common causes of F3
- Open oven sensor element
- Loose or corroded sensor connector
- Broken sensor lead
- Control or relay board input misreading the sensor
1. Let the oven cool, then turn it off at the controls. 2. Check that the oven racks and any foil are not pressing on the rear wall of the cavity. 3. Try a short bake at a moderate temperature and see whether it heats. 4. If it will not heat, call us and tell us what you noticed.
- F3 is an open reading only, so we measure the sensor and its leads to learn whether the sensor or its wiring is the weak link.
- Because the code is stored and not shown, we read the history rather than rely on what the display says.
- We quote a written price first, and the work is under a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Wall Oven codes
Will F3 show on my display?
Usually not. It is a stored code, so what you notice is an oven that heats badly or not at all.
How is it different from F4?
F3 is an open sensor reading, while F4 is a shorted one. They point to opposite problems in the same sensor circuit.
Do I need a new sensor?
Only if testing shows the sensor itself is open. Connectors and leads are checked first.
Still seeing F3?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
