What F4 means

Within Monogram 30-inch single and double convection wall ovens in the ZET1 and ZET2 series, such as the ZET1PL1SS and ZET2SL1SS, F4 describes a shorted oven sensor, where the resistance falls below 950 ohms instead of the expected value near 1,080 ohms at room temperature. The code is suppressed from the display on these ovens, because only F9 is shown to the owner. What you actually see is an oven that heats unevenly, shuts off early, or refuses to run a bake.

Common causes of F4

  • Shorted oven sensor
  • Sensor lead pinched against metal
  • Damaged insulation on the sensor wiring
  • Relay board reading the sensor signal badly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Switch the oven off and let it cool with the door closed. 2. Remove foil or pans touching the back wall of the cavity. 3. Run a short bake and note whether it heats and holds. 4. If it still misbehaves, call us and describe what the oven did.

! Why to stop there
  • The short may sit in the sensor or in a damaged lead, and a circuit test separates the two.
  • The display will not show F4, so we read the stored history to confirm it.
  • Our price is written before work starts, and repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F4F4 questions
Why don't I see F4 on the screen?

These ovens hide it, and only F9 is displayed to the owner. The stored code is read by a technician.

What is the difference from F3?

F4 is a shorted sensor reading, F3 is an open one. Both leave the oven unsure of its temperature.

What fixes it?

It depends on whether the sensor or its wiring is the problem. We test, then quote in writing.
