What F3 means

Monogram ZGP professional gas ranges, such as the ZGP486ND and ZGP484NG, use F3 on the oven side to report an open oven temperature sensor. The control measures the sensor's resistance, and a reading above 2900 ohms means the circuit looks broken, since a healthy sensor reads about 1080 ohms at room temperature. The documentation describes this only as an open sensor. Monogram ZET wall ovens have an equivalent code of their own. The oven may not heat while the control cannot read its temperature.

Common causes of F3

  • Oven sensor open internally
  • Break or loose pin in the sensor lead or connector
  • Connector contact problem at the control
  • Control input not reading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Let the range cool fully with the controls off. 2. Close the oven door and run a short bake at a moderate setting. 3. If F3 comes back, stop using that oven. 4. Call us and tell us the model number and what the oven was doing.

! Why to stop there
  • A high reading can come from the sensor, a broken lead or a loose connector, and the code alone cannot separate them
  • We measure the sensor cold and compare it with the expected value
  • We look at the control only after the wiring and sensor check out
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F3F3 questions
What does the open sensor reading mean in plain terms?

The control sent a signal toward the oven sensor and got almost no path back. That is how a broken sensor or lead looks, so the oven cannot be trusted to hold temperature.

Is F3 the same on wall ovens?

Monogram ZET wall ovens have a matching code for the same open-sensor condition, but this page covers the ZGP range. We match the code to your exact model before testing.

Will cleaning the oven fix it?

No. Cleaning does not change the sensor's resistance. If the sensor lead is damaged or the connector is loose, only a repair will clear the code.
